A little history on the ingenious apple corer...
The product was invented around the turn of the century and was the first time there had been a product that peeled, sliced, and cored. It preformed all three functions with ease and could be used in anyone's home. It was first patented in America in 1896, and has survived the test of time, because of its efficency.
My Apple Corer is a product that I have just recently fell back in love with. Apples are in season and my son is loving them, however the skin is NOT his favorite part. He usually eats all the apple in his mouth and ends up with a chunk of skin peelings in the corner of his mouth that he wants to spit out. I decided to pull out my apple peeler and give it a try.
My son thought is was great and I was in heaven because I was able to hand him the plate with the apple on it and let him have at it. I didn't have to hold onto it or worry about the seeds or the peel. It was SO nice.
My son thought it was so funny to pull the sliced apple apart and eat the sections etc. He ate the whole apple in one sitting the first time. Since then he has wanted an apple everyday and usually eats the whole thing.
It is a "fun snack" to him and a very healthy one to me. So we are both happy! :)
The apple corer can peel, core, and slice all at the same time. Which will definitely save you time. Anything that saves me time, makes me especially happy (big grins all around).
It is great for making apple pies, strudels, tarts, crisps, apple cakes, relishes, applesauce, canning apples...basically anything that you could want an apple made into smaller pieces for or sliced for or just cored, this is the device to use. It also works on pears and potatoes.
