Spend an afternoon together. How often does that happen? The time Marc and I spend together always falls into the evening category, but I would love to spend an afternoon together.
I was thinking a hike or a picnic or a trip to the beach might be a great way to kick off a fun afternoon date, but I had another idea that Marc and I tried recently that was a lot of fun.
Marc and I spent an afternoon window shopping and viewing homes for sell in the area. Are we close to buying a home? nope. Are we ever going to buy one in the are we currently live? probably not. But it was so much fun to walk through these homes and talk about what we liked and didn't like, what we want to have in the future, dream about our awesome kitchen, and how large our laundry room is going to be with cupboards and plenty of room to fold clothes and hang clothes to dry. oh how lovely it will be. :)
It opened up a conversation we hadn't had for a while on finances and when and how long before we will achieve this goal etc. I feel like this conversation was one we had while we were dating or engaged, maybe even when we were first married, but it has been a long time since we dreamed together.
We get so bogged down with school, meetings, and folding socks, that sometimes we forget to dream together. I felt like we had already talked about these things and I didn't really think we needed to revisit these topics, but we have changed in our thinking and we have changed our opinions on things and I am sure they will change more as the future changes for us, but it was fun to dream together again and not just talk about the mundane day to day of life.
I always try to convince Matt that'd be fun but he hasn't consented to go yet :-)
